Favorite UNT memory:
“I was looking for a masters program because my wife teaches at TCU, she’s a full time professor at the business school. So, she says you know if you want to teach, so that I could have off the same time of year as she does, you got to get a masters, you got to teach. So we went to TCU and the program at the time, the masters program, was just unattractive so we just drove up to UNT, just to see what the program is like, and I’m not kidding you, by the time I left an hour and a half later I was in the program, I was applying for the program.”
“Second most fond memory I have of UNT is going to classes, not only at the masters level, but later on, seeing undergrads being taught by people that I knew: Gale Reeves, Dan Malone, Susan Zavoina, all who used to be peers in the Dallas- Fort Worth Market that used to be my competition, not only photographically but on the editorial side. You’ve got Pulitzer Prize winners and you’ve got people that shot against me everyday that I was out doing assignments locally; When you see those people in the program and you know their history personally you understand the width and the breadth of the program that’s available at UNT.”
